Integrating Canto into Canva
Canto is TXST’s photo library and digital asset management system. Images on Canto are free to download, updated on a regular basis, and categorized by themes such as academics, campus, building and landmarks, and other groupings. TXST faculty, staff, and students can access Canto with the TXST NetID for a wider selection of images.
Below are the step-by-step instructions on how to log in to Canva and how to integrate Canto (the university’s digital asset manager) into Canva.
Step 1: Log in to Canva
- Open your web browser and go to Canva.com. Google Chrome and Firefox are the preferred browsers. Note: Canva no longer supports older browser versions. Check and update your browser.
- Enter your Texas State Net ID email address and password.
- You will be prompted to log in using Duo 2-factor authentication via SSO (Single Sign-On). Follow the instructions on the Duo screen to authenticate.
- Once logged in, click on the “Brand” icon in the left side panel. If you see the maroon banner at the top, you have successfully logged in to Texas State’s Canva account! Brand templates and kits are located within the Brand section.
Step 2: Integrating Canto with Canva
- After logging in to Canva, locate and click on “Apps” on the left side panel.
- In the search bar, type “Canto” and select the Canto icon from the search results.
- Choose to either use an existing design or create a new design; either option will take you to the same Canto sign-in screen.
- Click “Connect” in the left side pane.
- In the Canto login window, enter the domain “txstate”. The full line should read “txstate.canto.com”.
- Click on “Log in via SSO”.
- Use your Texas State NetID and password to sign in to Canto.
- A new window will appear; click “Allow” to complete the integration.
Once these steps are completed, Canto and Canva will be integrated, and you won't need to repeat the log in process every time. To search for images, use the Search bar to type in a keyword, such as “Old Main” or “student,” and the Canto library will pull images associated with that keyword.
